    Data Scientist – Co-op Student | Winter 2022

    Job Summary

    As a Data Scientist Augur at NERv, you will be working in a fast-paced and cross-functional technical team. You will primarily be working with data from our clinical and animal trials and using it to help
    develop our AI/ML pipeline for cutting-edge early anastomotic leak detection models. This position will require you to come into our Kitchener, ON offices for at least 50% of the time.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Process, clean and verify incoming data from clinical/animal data
    • Explore and implement ML pipeline (data exploration, sampling, training data generation, feature engineering, model building, and performance evaluation)
    • Identify, interpret, and communicate meaningful insights from clinical/animal trial data
    • Identify any improvements for the data collection and analysis processes
    • Prepare documentation of models, designs and techniques used
    • Communicate findings and insights to other teams
    • Assist R&D team in sensors manufacturing

    Required Skills

    • Proficient in Python for data processing, statistical analysis, machine learning and visualization and skilled in writing SQL queries
    • Ability to: compile, correlate, and compute results from large sensor time-series datasets and draw tangible conclusions and develop machine learning models
    • Experience in descriptive and predictive modelling
    • Experience with implementation of data visualization
    • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • A curious and proactive attitude
    • Knowledge of biosensors is preferred but not required
