    Hardware Engineer – Co-op Student | Fall 2021

    Job Summary

    The candidate would join the R&D team to design, bring-up, and test hardware devices that are deployed in clinical studies. This entails the wholesome design of PCBs, interfacing with manufacturers, development of firmware, and testing of hardware within the broader system.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Design schematics to interface with sensors and incorporate wireless communication while meeting power and area requirements.
    • Layout PCB in coordination with mechanical and manufacturing staff to conform with product design and assembly procedure.
    • Develop firmware to enable device calibration, acquistion of sensory data, and communication with cloud.
    • Create and execute testing and verification plans for hardware and firmware.
    • Collaborate with the sensors and staff to assemble and troubleshoot sensor devices.

    Qualifications

    • BASc candidate in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Biomedical or related technical disciplines.
    • Intermediate PCB design experience using industry-standard tools (preferably KiCAD).
    • Intermediate firmware development experience for IoT.
    • Experience in electronics assembly and troubleshooting.
    • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and constantly changing conditions.
    • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.

    Bonus Qualifications

    • Familiarity with ISO 13485 and similar standards for Quality Management Systems.
